yup, i drop about 10k p.a. joining PS. but i feel in a long run, stable increment and job security mean more for me and my family.

i am confident to move up the ladder in PS too, but definitely slower than some in private sector

Yes, some prefer stability more. Private sector allows you to earn out your potential.

If you get retrenched, you should have enough to retire.

Doesn't apply for me.

i used to work as an engineer in the pte sector and earned 4K at 30 years old. Had i still be there today, I would probably be a senior engineer getting around 6K.

I am now in PS getting slightly more than 10K.

nice. 10k pm is inclusive or exclusive of bonus? what level are u now?

Nobody stays in pte sector company all the way (unless you're in MNC/banks). Usually ppl will hop every 2/3 years for increment.

not for me too. I was in an engineering role. It wasn't so nice and dainty (to be very honest) that i could job hop and get an increment every two to three years. I was a hardworking but not brilliant worker, with local uni degree.
