Default i have only one question

Why do the people earning 200+k of income and have millions of assets and cash always need to post and asked how well they are doing financially?

If they truly possessed the amount they claimed, shouldn't they be smart enough to know the answers themselves?

i am a slacker in life, single & 34 this year, working in a small bank as IT, i owned some shares here & there (about SGD42K in NASDAQ), put in SGD30k in singapore saving bond, have about SGD170K of CPF, no estate and still living in my parent's 5-room HDB..have about SGD40k savings as of now give or take...

my combined net income for last year is about 92K and this will be about 100K if the bank don't fire or retrench me this year....although like i say, i am a slacker and i don't really care even if they do so. But at least i have the 'brain' to know how well i am doing financially. I know i am not in the bottom 60 percentile......so my question when i read this thread is that how come so many supposed highfliers in this thread don't even know how well they were doing financially? Are they just trolling or need someone online to stroke their ego? If a slacker like me can know my own financial status, then you should too

so you are telling me that those 'non-slacker' high earner don't at least dedicate some time to access their own financial status and situation?

And here i thought that highflier and rich people earn that much money because they are 'smart'....guess i was wrong!

Or maybe they just want someone online to stroke their ego...

or maybe like everything online, you are suppose to take everything with a pinch of salt.

so say the slacker.

Since you own an almost paid up condo and car, you are definitely well off. Only 13%+ of the population live in a condo. Clearly you're in the upper class of society. To add, your household is a millionaire household with $1.5m total net worth.

you are upper-middle...

if you are middle class, then what class do you consider those with a 300k-600k HDB with loans, small japanese car with loan, cpf+cash less than 500k? Lower class? How about those living in 3room flats and below? Peasant class? Those ARE THE MIDDLE CLASS and they constitute the majority of the population....not you guys (if you are honest with what you typed. If you consider yourself 'middle class', do you want the government to give you more tax relief and handouts?

You are basically the guy in the show, 'silicon valley', kept calling himself a 'poor peasant' for having only about $100million in asset because his group of circle consisted of only billionaires.

Financial assessment is to be done OBJECTIVELY, not SUBJECTIVELY.

Lots of argument about the term middle class. Pew research defines middle class in US as between 2/3 median HH income and 2x HH income.
Median HH income in Singapore is 104k inclusive of employer cpf contributions, OT and bonuses ...

A lot of people - well out of 10 similar type, perhaps 5 or 6, are in this category. Like the Pharisees who pray openly (when prayers are to be private); like the well-prepared students in examinations (i am talking undergraduates level) who say the papers are tough, yet whipped out flying colours. Falsehood in the non-examplery way.
