Govn has made it clear that a car light country is what it wants so it would eventually start to reduce vehicle population or keep it stagnant. My opinion is anything at the 30k plus coe value is too good to miss already

After 2018 the quota will shrink rapidly and COE will shoot to $200k. No wonder I saw a report forecasting that high COE.

I better convince my wife to get my dream Altis soon.

No rush for me as 200k is still within my budget. It just means getting an entry level sedan from the Japanese/Korean brands instead of a German marque. A car that gets me from A to B is a good car, even an entry level sedan beats the bus and MRT.

I really worry that COE might shoot back up.

Should I buy my Altis now? I common afford if COE shoot back to $100k, if government suddenly changes some laws in the coming budget announcement.....

Don't wait any longer. Can buy new car now. There are good Korean cars selling for less than $100k. Very cheap if your household income is at least $100k pa since you're just paying $10k pa to own the car.

I said $10k pa to OWN the car. It will cost another $10k pa to use and maintain the car. That's $20k pa to own and operate the car. If you take the taxi everyday, it may cost you about the same every year. 20% of income spent on transport is not high. Your BTO flat mortgage is paid by your CPF, so you still have money for other spendings.

I think how much net worth u have depend on what is your current life style " wealth is measured by how long u can live on with your current assets that generate a passive income" when u decided to quit anytime.

this wealth is worth something.

in order to be wealthy, one has to not only live within your means... u have to live way below your means in order to accumulate wealth during your early age ..

I do not have inheritance, i am 34 this year and is financially well to do...

I'm happy to see I got about $11k in CPF interest in total from my CPF OA, SA and MA for 2015.
