My contribution to my family expenses is $500 a month.

Take-home pay: $2.5K
Amt saved every month: $1.4K - $1.5K (try to, at the minimum)
Monthly expenses: around $500
Family contribution: $500

I am trying to cut down my expenses to $400 or less but is difficult, especially when I go out with spendthrift friends....

Do you think insurance and property agents earn a lot of money? Together with taxi driving, these kind of professions have low entry barriers. You don't need degrees or many years of education to enter these trades. Being in this kind of trades is like running your own business. How much you earn is totally dependent on your hard work. Sometimes no business means no income!

So instead changing job to be an agent or taxi driver, you should do it part time in addition to your current job. In this way you can boost your income, and yet not worry about having no business.

How to make more money?
Should I change job to insurance agent or property agent?
Pease advise. Thanks.

What biz is good for me to do full time?
I'm not targetting much, as long as I can earn a net income of $150k pa, I will be happy. My friends all live in a condo, and I have to too. Please help.

What kind of business can guarantee a regular income? I think only employees can expect to get regular income.

Doing business always comes with risk and therefore the income cannot be guaranteed.

If your current income is insufficient, you have to consider doing 2 jobs.

See what your friends have that you don't have. What qualifications, skills, jobs they are doing? Investments? How come they can afford to live in condo and you cannot?

Not all condos are the same, there are good condos and there are other condos. Sometimes it is better to stay in a HDB than in a bad condo.

We are a childless retired couple in our 60s. We retired 2 years ago and now staying in a landed home in Iskandar. Our stocks portfolio gives us S$40k per year (most of our stocks are Spore blue chips). With the good exchange rate, we get RM100k pa, which is more than enough. We can still own a car and go for regional holidays. As the RM continue to go down, we are very happy.

Hi, I am in the process of buying a landed house in Iskandar too with a view to retiring there in future. I am 38 years old and have 2 young children, currently earn about 150k a year. May consider semiretiring there in 8 years time when hopefully the RTS is up. Have a landed and MM in Singapore so depending more on rental income in future to sustain our retirement. Should have at least 5k passive income monthly to sustain our retirement in 18 years time when I am 56 years old.

I think more should look at retiring in iskandar with their big and cheaper landed houses, cheaper cars and cost of living and good exchsnge rate.

A little bit more info would be helpful, like which industry are you in, what is your job position and level, what is your degree discipline in and so forth.

If you get more locum assignments, would you be able to earn more than 150k?

How much do your specialist classmates earn on average? Are there certain specializations that pay more than others?
