So I have to live a frugal life. Luckily my two condos (one I stay in and the other one I rent out) are fully paid up. Even though I am asset rich, I am cash poor. I have to ensure my annual spendings do not exceed $35k. I wish we have unemployment benefits here as I contribute tons of $$$ when I was working. People like me should not be forgotten for our tax contributions. We have fed the poor, now it is time we are helped. Are there any schemes to help low income people like me? Life is tough.
How did you lose your 250k pa job?
Why is driving taxi a degradation to you?

Complicated matter, but in short due to internal politics.

No offense to all the good taxi drivers out there. I was a highly regarded senior executive. I don't want to pick people whom I know, neither my ex staff nor people in my industry circle. I rather migrate rather than be seen driving a cab. This is my deepest genuine feeling.

I'm sorry, but you are a phoney. Get out of the forums. If you were indeed earning 250k pa, you would not even have to consider being a cab driver. Your management experiences and specialised skill sets will easily see you pick up another high-paying job.

I'll have you know, that cab drivers are also a respectable job. There's no shame in doing it. But I'd reckon with your attitude you should get out of the country and retire elsewhere.

My sentiments exactly. If he was really earning $250k pa, the company must have found out their mistake and quickly terminated his employment.

What is your profession / business?
How long have you been at it?

Your numbers don't add up, unless you have old money.

Talk is cheap. You wouldn't know how it feels. Hopefully, one day you will be in my position to fully understand my predicament. I'm giving myself another 6 months to get a suitable job, if I can't, I'll just migrate to some cheaper country in the region to fully retire. I may do some charity work to feed the poor. I'll rent out my two condos and get about S$70k a year, more than enough for retiring in Thailand, Myanmar or Cambodia.

Excellent idea. Retiring in a lower cost country is the way to go. You can live like a king there. But don't, live humbly and spend your excess on the needy. Feeding the poor is a good activity, it will purify your soul. No point spending the rest of your life doing sinful politicking. Free yourself from being dependent from others. Be the one who brings joy and cheers. I wish you all the best!

$3.15M is respectable but quite common for your age group.
