What kind of answer are you expecting with such brief information? I have actually concluded that you are highly overpaid.

You reminded me of a colleague who gave a one page report when asked to report on the outcome of a week long test. There was no mention of objectives, no test procedures, no test boundaries, no technical depth to the result analysis.

The $120K per year income included buffers. Currently our annual household expenses are around $90K - $100K. Not extravagant at all. If we retire, we can remove $20K from that expense immediately - our income taxes. If we don't keep our maid and sell off one car, we can further reduce the expense by another $10K. So we would need around $60K - $70K each year.

The buffers are to address :
1. Uncertainties in the income sources and amount
2. Replacement / maintenance of aging assets
3. Inflation
4. Medical expenses
5. Anxieties of not having savings (not seeing your assets grow)

Anyway, it is always good to have some margins.

what basis you think the poster is highly overpaid?
Assume, he/she has degree - and has work experience of 7 years, i'd say it is underpaid.

29m, grad 2009

sell side role, 150k p.a after 15% increment this yr

no bonus last yr ... very demoralised

stay in HDB, no well off parents, did not gain from property boom in past few years.. but hope can gain from Iskandar in the next few years

also no car, take mrt..

no passive income but do personal trading on the sideline..

find it quite interesting that even though u got 8 month bonus and I got nil, our pay is still roughly the same last year..

although I probably end up feeling more demoralised than you ...

Hi..don't be demoralised..fact is i made much lesser than you cause the bonus is before increment..plus you grad later..and you're in sell side investment banking, most likely you're amongst the top 1% earners in Sg for your age group.

Moral of the story: Grass is always greener on the other side and money is never enough!!
