Age 65, my spouse and I will get $4500 pm ($54k pa) combined from CPF Life

We will retire in about five years time
This is an excellent retirement plan. I think this is what many retirees do. They downgraded from private property to HDB flat to get cash so that they can retire. Most people live in HDB flats even those working. To downgrade is no big deal especially if it gives you freedom. You are making the right choice.

why would the last one be 10667? most places would have just rounded off to whole numbers 😆

Probably during his offer stage, his basic was quoted on an annual basis - $128k. Pretty common.

Goes to show loyalty is worth nothing. Just keep shopping around for offers.

You missed the point. He is in the hospitality /retail sector which is eating **** right now. No way those increments are genuine.

True. Old retirees may also downgrade from their landed properties to a HDB flat. They get lots of cash. Very smart.
