Opinion
I'm in IT, about 7 years exp, degree holder from local U.
Getting 70k/annum. Is this reasonable??
I was reading quite a lot of posters here getting 120k and above. I know people who are getting such high pay, but I would say only a small percentage of my friends are getting that pay, and mostly in the financial and legal sector. While they are not rare, this forum seem to be attracting many with high income and I'm starting to feel underpaid.
Any thoughts?

That's because this forum allows annoymous posting. Take that away, and the > 120k per annum people also go away.

Hi - I'm in IT with around 7 years of experience and I'm getting ~100k p/a in a US MNC. I've friends in financial sector (foreign bank) getting 130k-150k easily in IT.
Of course that depending on what is your role. I'm purely a technical guy, no management role involved.

I agree with post #664. Like you, I am a local grad with about 7 years working experience. My annual income is not far from what you quoted. Among my peers, I think I am doing quite well. If you go to the income benchmarking tool by age, you will realise you are in the top 20% of your chohort.
For some reason, the posters here paint a different story. Perhaps it's because people that come here are people who are those more concerned about their pay causing a selection bias. I will not rule out also the possibility of people inflating their pay.
I had an army friend boasting to me that he is doing very well getting $6-7k monthly. I also happen to know he recently applied for a HDB flat with his wife (who is a secondary school teacher) and successfully got one.

super underpaid software developer, pls advise!
Less than 3.5k/m + avg 2-3 mths bonus. 6 years software developer in manufacturing mnc 'so call' r&d department. No chance for promotion to senior developer in next 6 months.
Graduated from local u engin but with not so good honours. Even though I was always rated as top performer, my company keeps on using the uni grade as a 'reason' when come to my salary review/promotion...
At the same time, I found myself unable to get out due to company bonds (in lieu of training cost), economic crisis etc...(ok my own laziness also)
But finally I decided to move for good. Completed several MCTS, MCPD and MCITP certs recently and now looking into the job market.
What are the options I can have? And how much should be my market value? Please help to advise! Thank you.
