Are you also saying those who don't grow up feeding on shark fins and bird's nests don't deserve to exist at all? What kind of twisted logic is that?

Judging by your grammatical errors, it seems like you are an uneducated lout and by your own reasoning, shouldn't disgrace yourself on this earth as well.

Oh well, I didn't say that. You said it!

As long as you earn a decent living, you can feed yourself. So I don't understand why one doesn't deserve to live a life?

A car is a luxury acquisition in singapore. You spend so much on the COE when our public transport is already "world class". So unless and until you can WELL AFFORD and have SPARE CASH LEFT, meaning those who own a CAMRY or BMW since these are at 150k up range, then you can buy a car.

If you are struggling and you buy a Nissan sunny, might as well do yourself and your loved ones a favour and don't buy a car.

This is precisely the purpose of the COE system. It is too weed out the borderline cases from owning cars.

And people should realise by now that if they have to think daily how to save that few dollars, then they do not have enough to own cars.

That's why I am happy when I see posters saying that when they retire they will give up their cars - less congestion on the roads and freeing up car park spaces. Unfortunately this is not happening in my condo. Retirees still getting new cars. Worse now that people are working longer, their children joining the work force and getting their own cars while the parents still keeping theirs!

This is one of the reasons I don't think the COE price will drop, and I hope they don't. Otherwise the roads will be jammed, there will not be enough car parks.

Still considering whether to buy a car now even though I can afford it. The COE itself is 2 x the value of the OMV. Waiting for the COE price to drop more before buying.

Job: General Practitioner
Age: 31
Per annum salary: $190k

How come doctors nowadays so overpaid?
I better keep myself healthy so that I don't fatten the doctors.

43, 45 working couple, middle class, total income $10k pm. We bought our flat 15 years ago and now planning to upgrade to an EC which will cost us $800k. After selling our flat, we will only need to loan $300k. Our monthly mortgage is affordable. Finally, we manage to upgrade our social status. Like someone here said, the top 15% lives in a condo. We look forward to our new social class status.

I think you missed the whole point of condo living. There is a whole world of benefits to enjoy staying in a condo and deriving social status from it should rank the lowest of the lot.

In fact you should not be staying in a condo if your sole purpose is to look good to your friends/relatives. If you are financially not sound, you will end up miserable and full of regrets.

Another thing you will find is that most, if not all your neighbors will have cars, big cars and more than one. Will you be able to accept that?

Depends on the number of hrs we work, if we r locums, employees or business owners and if we do aesthetics. I am a female locum GP and work only about 30 hrs a week, paid an average of $90 per hr so do not earn so much. Last yr earned $150k but this yr due to fewer hrs, only $124k.

Normally if work 44 hrs a week, locum GPs can earn 44x$90󫶕2=$190k..
