you have these options for retirement:

1. sell your condo at $1.5m in 10 years time. buy a studio hdb flat for $100k. your savings will increase by $300k. so you have cash of $1.7m. you buy 5% dividend yield stock to give you dividend of $85k pa or $7k pm.

2. rent out your condo for $5k pm in 10 years time. you will get $60k pa. convert to RM and retire in Malaysia (can be jb, kl, malacca, penang, etc). you will get RM156k pa or RM13k pm.

3. you can do (2) and retire in chiang mai, krabi or koh samui. avoid bangkok.

Total net worth (condo/cash/cpf), $1.4m.

Can any guru here advise how my spouse and I can retire comfortably when we reach 60?
How much do we need per month to retire (very simple lifestyle)?
Thanks.

If you are offered a job as a cleaner, then this is a fantastic offer. If it's for a F1 driver, then maybe not so much. Context, remember that !

@Lazyplane, kindly enlighten how is this amusing ?. As far as I know, when a company pays me $1, they expect a ROI of $10. I have successfully displayed my potential in the past 2 years. WHich was why I was offered this position.

Middle income couple, 47 / 48, 200k pa total. Lives in a high end condo, valued at 2m, paid up. Cash, CPF, stocks, car, 500k. Couple net worth combined, 2.5m.

Retirement plan: At 65, we will sell our condo and downgrade to a small studio condo. We will then invest the balance cash in various high yielding investments such as high quality blue chips. We will also get some payout from our CPF Life monthly payout. In total, this should give up enough passive income for our retirement.

Congrats, you're a millionaire couple. Your combined net worth is very high. I think you're in the top 1% among Singaporean couples, in terms of net worth.

Hi I'm a 29 year old with 3 years of working experience. Getting married this year and applying for a BTO flat. I was reading through most of the posts in this forum, and find the below particularly interesting. If what he said is true, I would be optimistic about my career (as I work in the financial industry but getting a fraction of his pay) and optimsitic about my financial situation...

Age: 39, 37
Work: both in financial industry, in a support function (so not your banker, salesperson, trader etc)
Total income: $509K, $230K (I didn't say I earned $740K, I said "We")
Residence: 5rm HDB, our first property and lived for 14 years.
Car: 6-yr MPV (red-plated as we work downtown and don't drive to work. Use the car only on weekends to ferry kids).
Income tax for FY2014: $44.5K, $1.7K cos of working mothers' tax relief, SRS, CPF top-up etc.
Savings: $1.7m (adding around $300K per year not counting investment returns, as I mentioned we save 65% of MONTHLY income plus whatever is left over from spending the bonus)
Networth: $4.3m at end 2013.

Agree we are in a good position but as I said, I know of many people of my age who are much better financially. So I learn not to compare, but am really sincere in learning from the forumers here to increase my wealth and financial knowledge. tks.
