You are very lucky to be millionaires at such a young age. My wife and I are in our 60s and we only own a 5 room HDB flat, which is worth only $700k. Our combined net worth is only about $1m. We plan to retire at 70 years old. We hope to rent out our HDB flat to FTs for $4k per month then and live with our son in his 4 room condo. We look forward to living in a condo before we die and taking care of our grand children. They bring us much joy. I hope we have more FTs coming in to support our retirement. Many of my friends also are renting out their rooms to FTs. But they need to compete with those who illegally rent out their BTO flats. We old people hope greater enforcement is done to confiscate those illegal BTO flats.

I'm 47 and semi retired, I work part time from home as a free lance consultant, earning $75k pa. My wife is 40 and is working full time, earning $100k pa. Our condo which is worth $1.6m is paid up and we have no debt. I now have more time to spend to nurture my kids to be good, smart, well behaved kids and this has been successful. I'm glad my sacrifice to leave the corporate world has paid off. I see people who excelled in their corporate life but their family life is in ruins, their children are rotten to the core. I'm also more at peace and feel healthier. Since we have no debt and our expenses is only $80k pa, we feel happy. Our net worth grows every year. We hope to fully retire at 75 years old. We hope to have a net worth $4m by the time we reach 75.

I'm ashamed to share how much I earn but here goes. 44, S$70k pa only. Wife, 42, S$100k pa. Paid off my mortgage. I live simply, no parties, wining, dining, womanizing, gambling or punting stocks. I hope to retire in Malaysia. When I reach 65, I will sell my flat for S$1m which will give me RM2.5m to retire with. Even though I am poor, I'm proud that I don't womanize. There are men who are rich but they womanize, some of them could be in this forum.

Did you or any of your family members suffered losses due to any of the above mentioned vocations?
