Not only that. I believe there are many tens of thousand who earned $250k to $500k. Many who posted here claimed their incomes were in this range. And this does not include their passive incomes.
My income is just below $250k pa, but with my passive income of $30k pa, it gets over.

So actually 1.3% of taxpayers earn over $500K, certainly enough to participate in this forum

It's 0.3%. You forgot to multiply by 100.
To give a better perspective, let's use the group of people born in the same year. We will use a group size of 40,000 as there's about this many babies born a year (actually slightly more).
So if you are in the top 0.3% of your cohort, you are among the top 120 people. Out of all the babies born in the same year as you, only 120 went on to make $500k a year, and you're one of them.
For students, the most elite group is perhaps those in the GEP program, which takes in the top 2% per cohort.
Years ago, when I was in the "Special" stream, I was told we were among the top 10%.
0.3% is no mean feat.

47, earns $80k pa, spends $75k pa. Saves only $5k pa. I think I have to work until 70. At 70, I will sell my 4 room HDB flat and then migrate to my ancestral home town in Penang to retire. I hope to sell my flat at $1m. By then the exchange rate should be $1 = RM5. Singapore is a great place to earn money but can't retire here. With RM5 mil, I can retire in Penang comfortably until I die at 90.

I am 38years old, working as a locum dr, earn $160000 per year as I only work 35 hrs a week. currently live in landed terrace worth 2 million, loan 660k left, bought a mm unit last yr and a semi-d in jb with an equity loan this year. hope to semi retire in 8 yrs time in jb when the rts is up with passive income of 3.5k a mth which converted to ringgit should be sufficient even if i don't work. Many, should be able to do that once rts is up, retire early or semiretire in jb and work in singaopore. only, prob is children still need to commute here to study but with rts should be more convenient, dont even need a singapore car, can buy a cheap malaysian one.

Think again. Safety of kids is most important. You should just sell all your private properties and then buy a 3 room HDB flat (only $300k). You can then retire with the millions in cash.

we will not be used to such a small space, also believe more in freehold properties. would rather continue working than retire like that..

Looks like you don't love your kids. I rather sacrifice my living space for my kids' safety.

Singapore is also going to get overcrowded and unliveable with 7 million,in the near future and with plans for extensive underground digging, i have a morbid fear of hdb collapsing one day too.
