i'm in infocomm. heard it's quite tough to last long in places like goldman, ms and jpm. have a few friends who made VP but left shortly due to reasons like stress, long hours, late night conference calls, politics, backstabbing, etc. fortunately they had quite a bit saved up by then. those who can survive must really be superman/superwoman

Hello,
Any understanding of insurance underwriting wages in Singapore? Looking for info about mid career positions (Senior Underwriter / Assistant Manager etc) in commercial insurance.

Hi all,
I've just quitted my job due to very bad politics and zero prospect of career advancement. I wasted my time and felt very unhappy. Now need to depend on my savings for livelihood. I know it was stupid to leave without securing another job, but I could no longer take it any longer. Did I do the right thing? Any advice where I can look for a good paying job in the financial services industry?

To Unemployed Father
I don't have a family, but I too quit from a bank because I didn't like the job although it's high paying. Been enjoying myself for the last couple of months or so. Right or wrong depends on yourself, but if you have a family depending on you then you will have to get a job ASAP unless you have millions in your bank account.
And for the posting about Amazon, etc: other than PayPal, none of those companies have a software operation here. Amazon had a recruiting drive the other day but you will have to relocate to Seattle.

I know there's an Amazon web services office in the CBD. Whether there's any software engineer positions there I'm not sure, but if you're interested in tech sales you can certainly give it a shot.

I admire your guts. I am in the same predicament but just can't bring myself to leave because I need the paycheck.
