i am doing waste management, mainly handling waste segregation and recycling portfolio. its a small startup that i found in 2018 after i finished my studies, and i drew 3k salary for 5 years, was the lowest paying employee despite being the founder. a salary revision was approved by the board last year, so i am slightly above eating grass now, wife is a little happier. no 13 month no bonuses across the company for now, we are still in the reds due to high initial setup cost, but these 2 years has been good with new contracts signed with partners.
2018 to 2023 - 36k
2024 to 2025 - 120k

You are right, I'm MX9 equivalent at agency, there are limited spots at Dir/GD-level, and it becomes even harder to promote upwards after, likely need to do a secondment at parent ministry as a SD to move up one more step for the younger and more ambitious guys. I'm at my CEP/LP ceiling already, unless this round of leadership changes will cause some shuffling or reorg.

Feedbacks were all good but Google's team matching process took over a year only to tell me no headcount... TikTok just ghost me. In 2024 I did close to 20 interviews, literally tried any company, Citibank, JP Morgan, Autodesk, Lazada, Grab, Mastercard, Paypal and many more.
I got rejected by all. Pretty sure I didn't fail the interview, if you know what leetcode.com is, I have a CR of 2.3k on it which puts me at a top 5% rank globally...
I am 99% sure I got rejected because they couldn't match my old salary of 285k because some of the recruiters told me that they couldn't even give 50% of my old salary... which is hilarious because first of all I didn't even ask for it, in the "expected salary" field, I asked for 80-100k.
I ended up accepting ST Engineering role as Application Support.
It is what it is, a job is better than no job. Tech market in SG has always been garbage.
