No worries,
Nope. I mean technically yeah I could move from Seattle to Texas or SF to work but at the time it just didn't make sense to do so. I would be taking a massive pay cut, much worse WLB and end up getting laid off later on anyway since the mid-sized companies in these places weren't so good.
Didn't consider other countries as the tech market outside the US are garbage. I'll just try to get a role in the US again sometime this year.

Depends which bank is it
Citibank and JP are both very decent, annual increment is roughly 12kish per year and if I recall, in 2022 it was 6k a month, after 3 years, most will hit 9k.
Local banks are awful, unless you're on fast tracked programs internally, annual increments are like 3-4k a year. Worse of all is that they have 0 global presence outside of Asia.
So if you work at local banks, your overseas exposure is basically places like India, Taiwan etc which is pretty meh.

Ouch. That's really painful to see your salary drop from massive $285k to $55k.
But i'm sure your savings number in the many hundreds of thousands if not millions so i'm sure you'll be allright.

Thanks for sharing Your quoted figures are only monthly base, didn't include bonuses and employer CPF right?

Hi I was the one who shared earlier, my fellowship allowance was take home, I did not make CPF contributions, but I do receive 17% contribution from the "employer" or host institute. My current salary is my monthly salary based on my offer letter, my actual Jan bonus was 1.5month as it was prorated as I only started in March last year. Hope this helps!
