We can sell our condo for $1.1 million and downgrade to a $500k 4-room HDB flat.
We will have cash of about $800k after that.
This cash will be more than enough to finance our retirement from 55 to 65.
At 65 we collect CPF Life of $5k pm or $60k per year in total.
Life is good in Singapore.
Can retire early.
Retire at 55 is not early retirement. Must be in your 30s or 40s, then can say retire early.
I retired in my mid 40s, that’s early retirement.
I was a high flyer executive in an MNC.

You must have earned and invested well! Congratulations!

I’m not as successful as you but not too bad. Most likely I’ll retire at 50 years old. I’ll downgrade to a smaller home to get cash.

I’ve been reading in the news young people dying.
Life is short.
I will retire as soon as I can.
I’m actually quite rich as I own and live in a condo unit.
So I can easily sell and move to a small HDB flat.
I will have a lot of cash for my retirement.
I’ll aim to retire at 56, after selling my condo and collecting my CPF.
Life is short. Enjoy while we are still fit and healthy.

Yes there are people who may retire early if they finish paying their mortgage. They can rent out their flat for S$3000 per month and convert to RM to get RM9,900 per month. Can retire in Malaysia in luxury. You can rent a condo for RM3000 per month in KLCC.

I am 54 this year. My health is not good. I need to stop working to focus on getting better. I don’t have much savings. I will have to downgrade my home to get cash for my early retirement. After the downgrade I should have cash of $300k to last until I’m 65. Luckily my CPF Life will give me income at 65. Wish me luck.
