- there's the private GP pat with like 3 anti-hypertensives, dapa , fenofibrates and crestor who come into polyclinic wanting to buy the medicine cheaply. He was like paying 400 dollar per mth for medicine. After Im done with the pat 6 months later, he is on amlodipine, metformin and simvastatin paying $3.3 per week. Dude was a cleaner making 1.5K a month. Come on la, u want chop carrot chop some sultan i no problem, u go chop this poor uncle...

by and large most patient ok esp the heartlander population i serve. Most of them pretty appreciative.
quoting that Erwin Kay isn't a good example. Surely he didn't go buy the machine because that patient requested right? He bought the machine wanting to make money off it and started using it to cure everything from headaches to piles. He is like the doctor who empirically start levothyroxine, or another guy who started methotrexate , s://sg.news.yahoo.com/doctor-charged-for-causing-patients-death-through-prescribing-drugs-without-tests-042203520.html
Erwin Kay case is not about machines.
Go read the SMC published grounds of decision.
Also google the trials for antifungals and autism. It is not totally absurd or unheard of. Does it really cause a lot of harm to prescribe antifungals to children? Sometimes lack of evidence doesnt necessarily mean is violates the "do no harm" principle. Sounds more about politics. Is the evidence for the covid vaccines that robust and clear cut when it was given out en masse?

?? ey, u not a bright spark also dun assume other pple dumb ok?

Erwin case is about him using an unproven method of treatment without prior approval as a professional.
If he is a beautician operating from a parlour, he actually wouldn't get into trouble, but he is a medical professional with treatment privileges bestowed upon him and he abused it to earn money.
What is his real intention? He wants to make money from his machine. That's the problem which is what i pointed out. You don't stop him there, its going to be use to treat hair loss, ED, piles and everything. You can't understand it and assume i'm talking about machines...

Google trials? A primary 6 student can also google anything.
Got trials doesn't mean anything. Got evidence it work or not? What kind of trial is it? Power size ? Evidence applicable to the population you treating or not?

Piang ey.
'Got trial lei. Not unheard of' . I can't believe u actually use such statements to justify treatments.
Hang on, dont tell me u also locum somwhere in bedok. Are u the shitty locum who empirically dispense levothyroxine to a patient complaining of fatigue? because i can so totally envision u saying ' not unheard nor absurd to give levothyroxine as a trial for patient complaining she got fatigue...got trials lei'

3.3 dollars/week, guess thats the luxury that only ops can offer. Private would close down long time ago.

Yup that’s generally the case.
Most patients won’t be able to afford taking more than 3-4 meds from GP because the costs are too prohibitive.
Which explains why bulk of complex chronic patients are in OPS and not following up with GPs.

I agree. Hope so too. Best is for all the private GP clinics to collapse. Will be cheaper for everyone.

If all primary care was under MOH/OPS then MOH can control costs. Limit the salaries of GPs. It would benefit all patients as they would pay less. Only ones to suffer are the GPs. Too bad. Private hospitals can have specialists only.
