Word on the street is that junior doctors' life is better in Aus but once specialised, SG is better due to low tax rate. Thoughts?

SG is definitely better. If you going to be earning millions, best to have low taxes. High taxes you pay hundreds of thousands in taxes heart pain. SG cheaper cost of living. Can have helpers do most of chores. As doctor earn a lot dont have to worry. Dun to Aus lah. Stay in SG.

What if i don't want to earn a lot? I just want to be happy doing my little medicine things and then go hike in some nature reserve?
But then if i work in Oz, people will forever see me as foreign? Maybe they have some forum somewhere being sad FT snatching jobs from aussies

Australia, if you can get in, is definitely better than Singapore. The pay difference is a moot point once you factor in the fact that you do not need to pay hundreds for monthly health insurance there with universal free healthcare, plus they have cheap houses and cheap cars.
In terms of professional development, simply look at the quality of their FT doctors versus our FT doctors and you can see a huge gulf of difference. If you ask your FT colleague whether their top choice was Australia or Singapore, if they are honest they will tell you they cannot get past the high barrier of entrance exams in Australia, and therefore have to settle for Singapore. Yet others who are smarter are here to use Singapore as a stepping stone to Australia or US.

But you miss your friends. Your family. Your hawker centre and coffee shop food. Your maid. Low taxes. Cheap healthcare. Aus got non bulk billing drs so you got to pay out of pocket too.
Aus weather very harsh. Bush fires. SG best. High salary low taxes
