Given that I finished NS as an LTA, I believe I can be called back anytime before the age of 50? If I get called back for NS reservist, do I have to undergo the full MOCC?

Can I avoid disclosing my physician status? Any benefits for disclosing?

Thanks in advance!
If you have PR in another country just let them know.

They wont call you back.

Can and will are 2 different thing.
They not gonna bother u when u overseas la.
Also..occifer anyway, convert to mo better la.
The modified mocc just attend lecture for few weeks nia, no Chong sua, after that get one more chocolate bar, become kah, tax rebate also more. Sai Kang during reservist also lesser. What's not to like.
Besides, there's no lack of mo , I don't think u will be call back anyway.
Plus if u never fully registered in sg, u can't qualified for mo.

Double standards.

You will hear them saying "everyone" is doing it.

But yet officially No one is allowed to locum.
How is this a double standard?
They already tell u cannot locum. That's the standard. Anything wrong of course charge u.
They close one eye let u earn a bit of money dun overstep your boundaries like AWOL from camp or sleep during hours la.
You do your job nicely where got pple got Kar cheo u?

Agree. This is the law as it stands, break it and risk your medical registration at your own peril.

If a doctor can't even follow basic rules and have basic honesty and integrity, should he even be allowed to practice medicine?

The law doeant allow NSF to moonlight. So why are doctors allowed to. Close one eye

This is shocking. I will write to SMC to complain. Search up all the male drs who are of the age to be SAFMOs. Report them to SAF andSMC if you meet them at GP clinic.
All COs should demand that MOs submit their IRAS returns. If is more than NSFMO salary then you know they moonlight. Charge them. If they dont declare then is tax evasion.

didnt they teach you in med sch?
the rules of "o" and "p"

"o" for owning!!!
obstetrics
ophthalmology
orthopedics
otolaryngology

any specs that start with o, are very competitive.
everybody wants. so harder to get in

"p" for pwned

psychiatry
public health
pathology
pediatrics

nobody wants so conversely lousier grades are needed to get in.

Exactly, as a doctor I feel we should hold the medical profession to the highest standards possible to maintain the trust of the public.

Slack enforcement of SMC rules and regulations is the reason why cases like senior ex-SGH psychiatrist Chan Herng Nieng and his patient have occured, because junior doctors have already been getting away with breaches of the law since NSF days, further emboldening them to commit future offences. SMC should wake up its idea and start holding these errant doctors accountable.

For the poster who thinks enforcement of a law is double standards, I strongly urge you to reconsider your choice of profession.

Personally the trust/relationship between doctors and patients is long gone.
Patients no longer respect doctors as they used to do (mainly because they are more educated now and think they know better than the doctor). Doctors also don't really trust patients nowadays in view of the recent medical legal cases. My consultant nowadays tell me, before you do /document/promise anything, always think of how the patient can sue you in the future..
