It is also unusual for a medical student to have first author publication for clinical research,
Not some stats churning like meta-analysis but original research.
Indeed. Not a normal medical student. Probably brilliant.

I think he/she should apply to Singapore. You never know.

There is a limit to the amount of leave you can take during residency before having to repeat the entire year. Ideally its nice to have kids after exiting, but time and the eggs wait for no one. So its probably best to have children when young. Residency can probably wait. Family is more important

You better do aesthetics. With the money you can help poor patients doing GP work for free.
1m a year is only if you open your own asthestics clinic?

Somemore some countries very easy to fake CV and publications one..... think last time got a NUS medical lecturer from a South Asian country managed to trick NUS for few years as a MBBS lecturer before he went to USA and got exposed for his fake qualifications and publications. Very easy to smoke MOHH/NUS one given they very pro-foreigner in their hiring.

Found the article s://.straitstimes.com/singapore/education/ex-nus-professor-in-resume-fraud-scandal-in-us

'Associate Professor Koh Woon Puay of Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School said she was taken aback by the allegations as she had not found any reason to question his credentials.'

Haha what a joke this Prof is, put in doubt our good reputation as a healthcare hub with her slack hiring practices. She should actually be fired if there's any accountability in ensuring our medical students are not taught by fake foreign doctors.

Hi, thank you very much for the insights! If I may know, how competitive is medical oncology in SG?

I've never said that I have publications on clinical research or speaker positions at medical conferences though, it's just some trainings on evidence-based medicine and systematic reviews, at either the local or national levels. Although most of my publications are SR/MAs, I am now trying to obtain more experience by jumping into clinical researches.

Default Path resident in aus

Hey guys,

Just wanted to get an opinion from all you experts here.

I'm a singaporean who studied in Aus and decided to stay here after completing my internship/HOship. Initially did internal med residency for 2 years but got disillusioned with clinical medicine so decided to switch to a non-clin specialty. I'm doing path residency now (rads didn't accept me) and really enjoying it. I married an Aussie girl (she's asian) and feel pretty settled here but i still miss Sg and am considering returning to the motherland after finishing my residency. Pathology is not a bad paying specialty here and lifestyle is pretty good (8-5 everyday, no calls as a resident). Just wondering if there are anyone knows what the prospects are like for a pathologist in Sg and whether it would be an enjoyable specialty or at least a reasonable one. I notice not many singaporeans go into path so wondering if its a really bad specialty there.

Thanks
