Currently a junior mo here. Still thinking between IM and FM as a long term career choice. Have no special interest in any of the subspec, so will prob aim for gen med if I do enter IM.
Was wondering which is a better choice in terms of demand, career progression/job opportunities and work/life balance in the long run?

Pick Calgary if you enjoy the outdoors, since the Canadian Rockies are only an hour away.

Pick Toronto if you prefer an urban lifestyle that is more similar to SG.

I prefer outdoors! Rockies got lakes to kayak, ski resorts in winter there are like 4 resorts about 1-2 hours away from Calgary! Amazing! And the cost of living there really is solid. Big nice house about $500-600k!

Anybody else from SG migrated to Canada? I read that some doctors can just practice medicine right away no need to take exams and do residency?

How much do specialists make in Canada?

So just write an exam then can go Canada and setup clinic and surgery?

Different specialists make different amounts. Is there a specific one you are looking for?

50% tax? So if I earn 10k a month only have 5k a month?

That's terrible. Better to stay in sg.

In Ontario, you take home 175k on a 300k salary

9k a month on taxes.

The strategy is to live in NZ, get a pr, then return to SG. NZ PR does not expire.
