You on call or rounding?
On call you got allowance for PH.

If just rounding, it is expected to be part of you job scope.
Pretty sure during medical sch interview, you told them you are willing to work hard
Anyway , it is a calling to serve the patients during PH.

Anyway experience tells me that during cny ward is super empty as ah ma and ah gong wanna go home to spend their cny, even more so if they are sick as this could be their last cny.

It is a rite of passage. We had it worst last time

Hi all,
Can I check if you are a mo under mohh (i.e mopex vs residency) are you allowed to locum for public institution? (I.e for a&e in public hospitals). I previously did Ed as mopex, have moved on to a different posting since, was wondering if i can locum back there (Ed) during weekends or my off days?

How much more does a surgical MO make a month compared to medical MO? Heard that surgical MOs make more. In terms of work life how does it compare to medical MOs? And it is better chance to specialise ultimately as a surgical MO? Thank you!

Base pay is same, if pay is different is coz they do more calls
Some places like neurosurg, must do EOD calls so pay higher.

But elsewise, base pay is the same for all MOs and Regs

Hi everyone!
I'm a medical student located in Sweden and I'm getting close to finishing school and getting my medical degree.
I've visited Singapore before and I enjoy the country a lot. At least from a tourist perspective.

I wonder how is the general life as a physician in Singapore?
In Sweden, doctors usually work 5 days per week and spend maybe 9-10 hours at work daily. How much you have to work at night depends on what specialization your doing but you always get the "day off" after a night shift.

Salary is approx (singapore dollars):

After receiving license: 5000
Specialist program (working towards becoming a specialist): 6300
Specialists: 9200 - 12000

By law, everyone gets AT LEAST 4 weeks free from week during the year. This does not include holidays like christmas etc. Those days are usually free off work or give a lot of extra salary.

----

As far as I've heard, most doctors in Singapore work far longer hours and more days than 5 days a week. But this seems to apply to a lot of countries outside of Scandinavia.
How are the salaries?

Thankful for any information about this.
Also, is it possible to work in Singapore only speaking English?

Working at TTSH now. Leave is getting cancelled, everyone is getting activated for the wuhan mess.
Ridiculous situation esp with the pitiful bonus and zero gratitude the higher ups seem to be according to us

Our specialists earns more. I do see some Swedish profs working in Singapore. I think that is how we manage to attract them with a higher pay. Sweden pay structure is very fair And egalitarian.

Singapore side there are a lot of low wage workers and no universal healthcare. Higher GINI coefficient. But rewards the strong and enterprising.
