MBBS is already enough prestige to the layman. A layman doesn’t consider the difference between a GP and a surgeon. You don’t even need to tell them what type of doctor you are.

Perhaps is some feeling of inadequacy or being looked down upon by colleagues, would returning to try for residency be a silly move if you objectively do not need the prestige/money that comes with a specialist title?
Am in my 30s, inexperienced and would appreciate some life advice from the older ones who have lived more

I would go back to residency if I were you.

He can just study for the MSRA exams and make sure to ace it. Then apply to UK for speciality training.

I thought once u become RP its 0 chance of entering residency? He’s rich anyway just shake leg trade stocks and enjoy life. Bored then work a few shifts here and there. Pursue hobbies, raise a family, focus on the finer things in life

It is not rare that people change their mind about residency. some people pursue their first residency and then change their mind halfway through to another residency or leave the PHI.
question is are you fulfilled if you have to do the same job for the next 20 years? you know the answer.

So the public impression of rich doctors is highly flawed. Most doctors are born rich to begin with especially those who can afford to study overseas. Even those who study local are from wealthy family. Ok maybe only a small minority less than 20% from humble family
