I am the banking bro but since i did a lot of googling while exploring my pathways i guess can give some inputs
Canada residency only opens to pr or citizen
And u need to take their licensing exam
Low match rate for those with more than 2yoe
Even fm matching is tough as highly nepo to local students
Basically matching with pgy5/6 is dumb and not worth the hassle to redo residency
Pr i believe can apply via healthcare worker pathway (believe doc no need to be locally licensed so they expect u get pr then drive taxi as a doc or retrain or get conversion)
I believe certain specialties can get conditional license right away if qualified in sg through approved jurisdiction pathway. See link below
s://.royalcollege.ca/en/eligibility-and-exams/exam-eligibility/approved-jurisdiction-route/approved-jurisdictions.html#singapore
There must be some nuances such as gp u get it like a cake walk while anes u have a hard time (?)
Colleague's sis is a clinical oncologist in hk (weird specialty as i saw them in hk and uk but not in canada aus sg and us?), didn't get converted i believe despite it is on the approved list
Salary not sure as i believe most are owner with lots of tax and overhead, financial savvy people can do corp to defer tax but no idea about the details
Us lots of annoying **** basically, maine and Tennessee seem ok with uk qualified gp but not other countries (?)
The rest don't recognize any non canadian specialist basically
Need usmle step 1 2 and if 5yoe most shops dont take + need step 3 to be competitive
Most experience online i guess are indian and pakistani med students hence i saw them emphasizing us clinical experience
Sg first world so perhaps matching a low tier institution won't be difficult
But what is the point going to us to make 250k usd a year pay 30% and redo 3y residency in fm?
They make a lot more in those rural no asian town but i guess we wont go there
I have considered the us pathway though given i am keen to do aus or uk, us residency 3y only recognized in sg, aus, canada, very good mobility and fast. Wonder if i can get us license + au + canada + sg and do telemed as a digital nomad
Too long shot though so base case just be a psych in sg or gp in hk
Happy to share more my googling and discuss life together bros
