Actually you are wrong. GP/FM are more respectable there, compared to asian countries as they mandate doctors to go through residency to become one. In asian countries, you only need a medical degree and a few years of post-graduate working experience to become one. Therefore, it is less respectable here.

Not true at all at least in uk. Most of the FM/GP training spots are taken by Indian IMGs who are desperate. Majority of uk grads don’t like GP. I know some who applied to GP training as a backup, but gave up his spot because he couldn’t get into rads. He’s trying again next year.

He is not bonded so he does not need to suffer that long till he can gtfo as locum GP.
The drop-out degree is mostly worthless for other industry without business experience.
But one thing to flag - OP you need to know the real reason you hate this. You may not like the other path and hate it again. Different people hate different jobs - high finance, law and medicine are probably full of people hating their own jobs. But even government jobs will have people hating their life collecting free money doing nothing. So make sure you understand why and choose accordingly.
I think it is always good to suck it up - 1) it gives you a backup even your career switch deviates from what you expected so much later. 2) you will tell yourself that at least you sucked it up last time and you aren't just finding an excuse to procrastinate; the next time even you hit a wall you will overcome that.

I think one has to realize there is no perfect job in this world. Absolutely nothing wrong with hating your job but continue to do it professionally just for money. (Even for doctors, we are no different)

I am in aesthetics and I love my job and it's not about the money. I get to beautify people every day and listen to their inspiring stories. The clinic environment is clean and soothing. almost zen like. most of my clients are in the top 10 % of Singapore.

Simply not true that UK training isn’t rigorous. Sure the WLB is better but when ur in sg what proportion of ur time is actually spent learning and training compared to doing random ward tasks? Why do so many singaporean specialists strive for HMDP to go to the UK to do fellowship at royal moorsfield, etc?

I thought the brits themselves complained a nunnecessary long training doing menial tasks for first few years is just merely service provisions for the nhs

There are more than 100 FM spots. Not 30. One of the easiest residencies to get into.

then you will also hear that UK grads are applying to IMT as back up plan. i have even met a GP trainee who quit final year of plastic surgery residency for GP training. i think the british do see GP as a way out- ie, fail to get into others and easier to work in.
