Banker bro here
U need to understand what assumption they will make
% saved and of which invested in stocks vs bonds or cash
Expected return etc.
Reality is they must tell u do investing better because it is how they make commission right
But u can do a simple excel to calc urself

Dont the working hours in private practise go down?
People go private for other reasons too- Frustration with the PHI/ colleagues, working hours, type of patients, etc.

i am keen to see any published statistics on this. I have been thinking about the same that more people leave PHI for aesthetic medicine at an earlier age/ stage. I assume it is due to Gen Z versus boomer mentality/ culture. Most Gen Z dream of retiring early and owning their time. To them, that is the definition of stability, while boomer see staying in the same job as stability.

When even the residency pick is opaque , what you ask for is too much

From where did you get this impression ? There are plenty of people queueing for residency.

Funny thing is that FM residency is competitive now which is surprising
during my time 10 years ago FM was a dumping ground for rejects from surgical residency

The only niche is heading polyclinics?

Being a FM consultant and senior con is a pretty sweet deal + FM residency looks a lot better in private
