For GP owner, when u said 600k is net biz expenses or gross revenue.

Specialisation is all about playing the long game. Sacrificing your time and putting in effort in order to increase your active income potential down the road.
However, this option has been less attractive with the increasing cost of living especially housing prices. Sure you might make more money than a GP but you have to sacrifice the years to get into residency + time needed to finish residency.
A financially savvy GP could already have accumulated many assets by the time you become a full fledged specialist making big bucks in the private sector.
You might outearn the GP solely by income but it will take time for you to build up assets similar in size to the GP.
Obviously you will win the long game if you work until your 60s or 70s, but then the GP will have the higher chance to retire earlier

You compare specialist in public sector vs GP in pte sector is not fair.
Compare pte specialist with pte GPs. You will see it is still very much more worthwhile to specialize.
600k a year in Singapore is nothing.

Depends really on which speciality you can get into. Not all specialists make more than a GP in private. In fact some make less.

if ur a specialist that goes private you’ll be able to catch up to a GP by 45 easily. Also u need to realise that in GRH, reg and AC aren’t even paid badly post bonuses. As a trainee you should make about 150k sgd a year inclusive of bonusss and 180k ish as a reg so the gap by which u lose in the short term isn’t that big

If u make it to becoming a private specialist, you will easily catch up by mid40s. This is because assuming you exit at 32,33, you will already be making as much as the average GP as an AC. However, the business savvy gp who can scale to multiple locations ofc will win but that kind of person can figure out a way to make money either way

It’s not always a linear path like what you described. You are assuming someone gets into residency the first try which is not the case. You are also assuming someone passes the exams and exit on time.
