Would it be better for me to finish 2 years of specialist ed foundation programme and rack up multiple publications and do CV building then return to singapore or return right away and start the process of trying to get into residency? Worried wont have enough time in singapore to do CV building

i dont know what is the culture now, but i feel there is excessive concern about publications. i know a GS resident with only 1 publication. the lack of pubs really do not make someone a lesser doctor.
in the uk, most people do not chiong for publication.

in the past few years there has been huge competition for the more competitve specialties so it matters a lot in setting one apart

Does anyone else feel derm everywhere is just a club for the selected ones to make bank?
Most conditions can be treated by an experienced FM who knows some derm on the side.
But very hard to find out which FM knows the shits and those marketed well probably don't charge you GP rate.
So you are stuck either with a 100 SGD unclaimable GP consultation or let the derm milk you 200 fully reimbursed
When can they start giving FM slightly above GP reimbursement rate then we don't see specialist for trivial stuff that requires more time or attention from your 6min GP

i do wonder why people become GP, rather than aesthetic clinicians. but then, we need more good GPs.

I guess once u r in it, you can advertise yourself as a specialist with a special interest in dermatology. Then probably can charge $200

do you mean in sg, the more years post-grad, the more expectations on publications?
I was not the one who wrote what you asked, but he was referring to sg.
