Rates have gone up as now need to show mcr and name. I.e supply from moonlighting nsf and mohh employees is essentially cut off.
If you are legal locum, good deals aplenty (e.g one care rates back to 170-180/hr for weekends, used to be 120-130 only)

Sigh the pay for sg doc is just crazily low.
This daily rate is like 1.5x hourly wage of a registrar in hk and hourly wage of an ac there
And their private practice is like 2-3x of this.

Easier to be a doc in SG, no need for any medical license exam to be a GP. All you need is a MBBS

Where are u seeing the data for registrar pay in HK? My mum is a specialist and has worked and lived in both HK and SG. GPs aren’t paid well in singapore because all u need is an MBBS and there are many bind breakers willing to work very hard
Public sector consultants and private sector consultants in singapore and avtually remunerated fairly well even in comparison to Hk. Not sure where ur getting ur numbers from. If u can quote ur source i’d be happy to agree with u

Your mum probably worked in hk more than 15 years ago. Salary for hk doctors 2.5x-ed in last 15 years.
s://.ha.org.hk/haho/ho/hesd/NonLocal_dr_en.htm
Resident is pgy2 onwards. First year is internship with 5-6k sgd a month then pgy2 is 13k sgd.
They also have 15% gratuity paid every 3 years in lump sum and around 1k husing subsiidy at pgy2 level (goes up a lot as you make associate consultant).
Due to shortage of public hospital doctors, you are promoted to ac within 1-2 years for most specialties (pgy8/9) and starting plus gratuity and subsidy gets you close to 30k sgd starting.
You can find news hk doctors fled to private asap as private makes 3x. I am the investment banking bro earlier, did some m&a deals for healthcare groups that has hk business. Crazy to see how much they pay even to GPs (30k for non-aesthetic GP 9-6 private clinic, 50-60k 5yoe aesthetic chain, solo aesthetic sky is the limit).
I asked my girlfriend and spoke with her friends as well. They said only stay public if you are too lazy or genuinely want to get good skills. Otherwise even a GP makes way more.

Also this is the locum scheme for public (basically 1/2 of private prices if not worse)
120 sgd per hour for mbbs non specialist (probably 4-5yoe but dropped out to be private gp after pgy2-3) who wanted to kill time in public hospital
150 for specialist, and gf's friend told me there is a supplementary allowance of 50sgd per patient (can't remember exact amount) once you see more than certain numbers (but capped)
I am shocked about the disparity and most of us didn't know hk salary is so much higher.
I actually only learnt from gf and classmates back when i was living there

Hongkie patients very difficult to deal with.
Demanding. Worse than Singaporeans.
And need to speak Cantonese.
Live in Hong Kong is also no fun.

Those mohh employees can just continue to locum if not doing residency. Not sure about nsf, will they be punish by saf ?

Just saw the SMC 2023 Annual Report and found out there are 11 Temporary Registration doctors in the private sector (Pg 11). Didn't know that it is possible to hire Temporary Registration doctors in private practice! Anyone has done it before and care to share?
