For career switcher, is there much difference going to UK to do a 5/6 year MBBS vs MD in Australia?

Seems that UK cost more, farther from home, takes longer unless you do the GEM degree and admission wise also way more selective for internationals.

In terms of training, preparation for PGY, getting into good specialty (school / research CV), getting MOHH grant, is there any difference?

Also, UK has intermediate qualification like IMT/CST, would that make returning SG to train easier?

Please don’t make the worst mistake of your life by switching career and going back to medical school. It’s not worth it.

Yes , do not do rubbish like doing medicine ( MBBS) in your 30s/40s! It would be the stupidest career switch ever unless you have plenty of cash in the bank and you want to do it for random fun lol.

It will be a million dollar mistake. Assuming you are in a mid career role with an average salary of $7000 a month.. that’s around a net income loss of $84000(5)=$420,000.00 or even $84000(6)=$504,000.00 if your med school is 6 years.
This opportunity cost is even greater if you are earning more than the assumed salary of $7000/month.

You then have to factor in the cost of med school which is around 500/600k.

You also have to restart at a HO salary of around $5800 a month.

Studying at a late age is also tough because it takes time to get back to the rigour of school life.

Is it worth it? Absolutely not!!!

If you don't, you could regret for the rest of your life.

YOLO.
