Not OP here but i’m just curious. It seems like most of ur cohort and other cohorts returned to Singapore right after medical school. Why is that the case? I would assume the long term ROI of training in the UK then returning is much better. Sure you get paid worse during training years but if u return to sg and are unable to specialise ur career earnings would be a lot worse than training in the UK first then returning as a consultant no?
Maybe most UCL grads get into residency in singapore anyway

Do you have any advice regarding the question itself?

Always go for path of least resistance
If u eligible for eye training and eye fellowship, then stay there
When u get all ur credentials then come back

So lets say I work 2 years as AC then HMDP then consultant, by 37 I would be a full cons and likely have f reg having worked 3 years. Also if get HMDP then I would get paid my full salary while on fellowship correct? Cos if I do fellowship without HMDP pay wont be as good. I can return to SG buy house now alr good timing mah. Any thoughts?

I dont know abt u.
But con and full reg means nothing
Most impt is credentials and more importantly skills
If u do ur highly ranked fellowship, acquire great skills
Confirmed can be employed anywhere in the world
Why bother abt sg housing. When u make a million a year
As pte eye, u can then go invest in housing

No full reg cannot go private what. But then again with a prestigious fellowship it’s probably easier to get full reg
