400k a year only and you have to bear the stress of running your own business.. that’s why better to specialise even low paid specialities like path or renal makes more than that as a SC

I am paid over 500k p.a.
My work is not stressful 2-3 days a week.
I still pinch myself sometimes to remind myself it is real
The hard part was in getting the various stints.

I just check his face book a while ago.
Still proudly labelling himself as an unaccredited plastic registrar in some ulu Sami hospital.
Tbh, I think if the imperial guy got a research going on with the local guys, he's genuinely interested and dedicated, his chance of entering plastic in sg will be higher
U calling sg a hellhole probably just reveal yourself to be a residency reject.
It's ok. Not the end of the world la.
The only plastic resident I knew was this Malaysian guy.
Man , he tong as a surgical Mo till damn sian liao and want to call it quits to be a gp.Tank everything and guess what, he really got in with what he thinks will be his final try
One week he is still mopexer in crumpled scrubs ,scowling at everyone
Next week when residency list came out, he turn up for work in ironed pants and shirt carrying a really important looking leather bag. I kid you not. Macham come from parallel universe. But become a bit haughty. Last week can chit chat , this week nose suddenly elevate 3 inch, like non surgical residents not worth talking too.
Guess what.
Recently saw his profile on a GP group.
Dunno want to armchio or not but I still arm chio

i think your story reflects some jealousy in yourself. you said one week , he is still mopexer in crumpled scrubs , scowling at everyone.....
then next week he became haughty after knowing that he had been accepted into plastics.
the only thing that changed was the way he dressed... before he got into plastics he wa already scowling etc , but whatever he did after he got into plastic was viewed as him being haughty .
and it is true you have to dress according to your specialty, if you are dressed in shirt and pants during general surgery posting you will stick out like a sore thumb.

MOPEX posting wise what should I select first? Get some gen surg expeirence first then pick plastics?
what can I do to help my colleagues and make their lives easier?
What are programme directors looking for?

1. bootlicking
2. appearance must be like you dont need plastic surgery/ already had it done
3. presentation skills , and being visible. dont be the person who does all the paperwork BS behind but dont have anything to show for it, it's better if you embark on a project that makes you visible and let the others tank your work. PD wants people who can increase the paper count.
whether you actually have surgical skills is not a big issue. u can get in and polish it afterwards.
people need to like you first and foremost, and nothing makes people like someone more than 1,2,3

the fact that its so easy to clear it in a week means anyone can just jump on the bandwagon
