Median household income nowadays is around 5.1k (so couple is 10.2k), even with that income, I think wil struggle with condo

Our HHI prob about S$13k plus after considering CPF, annual bonus and share options, rental and US shares and dividends. So not really S$7500 and will be S$17k after getting full reg.
But it is tough, hardly any savings every month now cause I am not that frugal. And somehow always have unexpected expenses every mth. Having 2 boys also is a big cost as have to buy them Apple handphones and PCs and laptops and a 9k invaslign braces for my elder son (ouch).
That's why decided to invest in landed for its property appreciation potential.

But u r right, lucky to be born in an earlier era. The baby boomers before me even better. My dad with only P6 equivalent Msia qualifications could support a family of 5, let me and sis go to uni and let my mum be a housewife with comfortable retirements fundsmafter he left.
It is getting tougher with each generation now.
Hence, I hope I can use my landed proceeds to help my 2 boys in future.

I meant if you only have a household 7.5k salary now, or even the median of 10.2k/couple, you will struggle to buy any private property. Day-day living will also be hard. Let alone buy US shares/landed/invest.
Lucky in the sense that you managed finances well in your early years, in an era where property was more affordable.

But I don't think private property is meant for the median income. Our income is above median, hence can afford private property.
Thanks, it is a combination of luck, and God's blessing that we managed our finances well.
