MOPEX posting wise what should I select first? Get some gen surg expeirence first then pick plastics?
what can I do to help my colleagues and make their lives easier?
What are programme directors looking for?

You stand a higher chance of getting into plastics in the UK than SG. Would advise you finish your training first before returning back. Local med students are bonded that’s why they have no choice to slog it out in the hellhole. You have the freedom to work anywhere you want, and yet you choose to return to SG so early as a junior

You sure easier to get into UK surgery than Singapore?
I studied in auzzie
Got a senior 1 year above me.
He stayed back wanting to do plastic surgery
It's been nearly 11 since I returned to sg.
I'm not a surgeon but a newly minted AC
I just check his face book a while ago.
Still proudly labelling himself as an unaccredited plastic registrar in some ulu Sami hospital.
Tbh, I think if the imperial guy got a research going on with the local guys, he's genuinely interested and dedicated, his chance of entering plastic in sg will be higher
U calling sg a hellhole probably just reveal yourself to be a residency reject.
It's ok. Not the end of the world la.
The only plastic resident I knew was this Malaysian guy.
Man , he tong as a surgical Mo till damn sian liao and want to call it quits to be a gp.Tank everything and guess what, he really got in with what he thinks will be his final try
One week he is still mopexer in crumpled scrubs ,scowling at everyone
Next week when residency list came out, he turn up for work in ironed pants and shirt carrying a really important looking leather bag. I kid you not. Macham come from parallel universe. But become a bit haughty. Last week can chit chat , this week nose suddenly elevate 3 inch, like non surgical residents not worth talking too.
Guess what.
Recently saw his profile on a GP group.

Freehold landed now starts at minimum 5 million, excluding renovation,; probably even higher in better locations
Not sure if that is within reach for a single doctor, even if he attains specialist status in the public sector.
2 specialist doctors maybe can, but probably only in their 40s (unless get help from parents, otherwise also hard to achieve in 30s).
Your household income needs to be at least 30-40k, you need to Marry someone who earns similar to you. (I mean not all doctors marry doctors/professional who have same earning power as them)

Actually UK it’s easier to get into residency than Aus the situation in Aus is worse than even singapore in terms of getting into surg residency. I just miss my family and would prefer to return now rather than later if possible. I’m quite a hardworking guy and can put up with **** so i think it should be possible

tbh making 30-40k a month is attainable for a doctor. Surgical consultants in public can and SC all specialists would be able to. Additionally, a private consultant specialist can easily make that much and one can even make that amount in aesthetics. So your partner making 5-10k more than enough alr

No need 5 mil. I just bought my freehold inter terrace for 3.4 mil valued at 4 mil at Seletar Hills area.
1905 sq ft land and 2800 sq ft built up.
Our household income is only my income of 7500 now , 11k soon and rental income of 1k from jb semi and 1500 from US stocks trading monthly. Not even 20k.

But we have S$2.2 mil cash including our condo sales proceeds. So that helps us get a bigger loan of 1.63 mil. Loan is enough to cover mthly mortgage 7 k for 3 years. After that with savings and sale of jb semi, loan will be reduced to 850k which is manageable for my salary.
