if you did your job well, did not try to play politics etc, and you were denied a spot in residency , it is OK, god will bless you in other ways. also, karma is real.
I am saying this because the people who hated me and blocked me from residency for no reason got it worse, e.g daughter passed away young from a terrible disease.
In the end I take it as a blessing in disguise that I do not have to stay in a toxic environment.

a close buddy also PGY 6-7 already waiting for residency that only takes 2-3 a yearand at crossroad deciding if should leave or not
when you look back do you regret leaving
like your dream is unfulfilled and you wish you tried harder or waited longer?

Legal means no contravention of law
There are 3 aspects of law. Employment, tax and medical registration.
Employment
If you are a Singapore or PR, it is perfectly legal for you to work at any workplace.
Foreigner can only work at location stated in their employment pass.
Taxes
If you locum, the income you earn you declare and pay taxes, it is legal
Medical registration act
If you are FULL registration, u can locum anywhere
Now the question is does your company HR has policy to stop you from working 80 hours or locum at alternative workplace?
Again this is ur company internal policy.
Nothing to do with law.
U may be fined or go to jail for not paying taxes, working with valid workpass or practicing without full registration. But u the state isn't going to care if u locum or not

Heard they block you from applying residency, or kick you out (if already in one), and freeze your bonus

I think it depends on which specialty? I think certain surgical speciality tends to take older residents (e.g orthopaedic) very few pgy2 or 3 get in. Usually is pgy4 and above

Question for GPS/locums in this forum. Some GP clinics are 2 doctor clinic. (Esp on Mondays) Have you all encountered situations whereby the other doctor (be it the anchor or a fellow locum) sees significant less patients than you do? In that case how should you handle? Can a locum tell the CA that patients must be distributed equally among the doctors?

How much can you realistically save a year ah? I just went GP land last year, annual also 200+ k/year, but after minus CPF, tax (20% at my income), parents allowance, mortgage, expenses, I find myself only saving around 100k/year. Need 10 years then can reach 1 million

IMG here. I came back did 2 years in government then went to private at 27-28. Started in aesthetics only making 16k a month. I then slowly progressed to 22k and 26k. I am now making 35k base excluding bonus at 34, with plans to start my own clinic in the future. It is possible to make it in private if u grind hard. A lot of my peers are also making 40-45k gross so its definitely doable
