Basic is 55k but they pay OT. And they are strict.about either paying U or giving U time off
3 hours evening call 150 bucks with 18 dollars for meals
Holiday double rate.
Work at hours outside of 8 to 5 got multipler
In HK, even as a trainee the monthly is about 15k SGD already.
I find people coming here to ask bout MO pay for ' financial planning' very funny.
U can ask ur MO la. They confirm will tell.
Infact even most consultants will tell U. I had mine just telling me his pay without even me asking.
Significant loans . Apologies man..my time the max any bank will lend U for education is 30k. Most of the time it's papa mama loans. I just google and found out U can borrow up to 160k to 200k nowadays.
Omg.
200k also like no Enuff
Seem like nearly 500k to do a med degree overseas.
Gg.

Aussie junior doctor pay is higher but overall SG is better financially. In Aus, the procedural specialties and surgical stuff and stuff that makes a lot of money are almost impossible to train in. So even though pay is lower in SG, you reach consultant faster and make more overall.
Where are you training now?

Interestingly (may or may not be to others), my initial plan wasn’t to return to Singapore. However, after considering recent pay increases, having a long-term partner here, and the fact that we got a BTO flat after the pay increase, I decided to come back. Somemore, as another user mentioned, specialising in Australia is more challenging compared to Singapore, and with the NHS's situation declining, returning to Singapore seemed like the best decision.
My parents also had YOYO opinions about supporting my studies abroad, which I did say i am okay not studying overseas. Even though they initially said they could help, they later "suggested" I take out a loan, which I understand and am grateful for the fact they supported me thus far. This means I need to adjust my salary expectations to accommodate this, especially with the upcoming BTO payment and a significant loan to repay, along with wedding expenses.

I’m assuming he takes the advice of the guy above and stays away from any non procedural/non surgical specialty. Surg/procedural AC has around 12k base and approx 6-8k in clinical allowance depending on specialty. That’s around 240k a year. 2-3 months of bonus puts him at 250-300k a year. Add calls and other KPIs and 300k TC isn’t far off. Assume his partner works and earns average income, 350k HHI is more than doable.
Ofc not easy to get into residency for the surgical and procedural stuff but no pain no gain also. Also if he go aesthetics after freg and grind 3 years expeirence before starting own clinic or becoming anchor at aesthetics clinic, 350k will be easy as well.

The auzzie system is a bit unique.
Their taxation is v high.
45 percent above 180k.
Every dollar U earn is 45 cents gone.
So really no point struggling 5 years to get into surgery. Traine another 5 to 8 years
Then no consultant spot when U come out
Become a fellow for another 3 to 5 years waiting for some consultant to die or retire because a spot opens up.
By the time U make 500k annual, maybe ur career left 10 years only
Tax takes away 45 percent.
Vs gp training. 3 years finish.
Pgy4 U can make 200k
Tax not so high. Maybe about 40k tax. left 160k.
Nowadays I see gp job in auzzie quoting 300k to 500k annual so maybe overall package improve
Start to enjoy ur life earlier. Invest earlier.
Probably have more money at retirement than a surgeon.
Me?
Doing this forum's fav.
Fam med lo.
Failed fellowship.
Stuck at AC forever. Gg

Any idea how much an AIM/gen med ac is drawing? with clinical allowance. Or is going private gp a better choice. if I am willing to put in the hours.
|
Radio AC earn how much ah?
AIM AC about 200 to 220k starting.
Private gp as hired hand even the most well paying is 240k annual cpf add another 10k
But U can eventually open ur own clinic and chains or more
Of cse now a days v competitive. Doesn't mean U open a shop patient will come.
For dead stuck Mo, private gp is a step up because salary doubles and life is somewhat better without weekend rounds and calls.
If U can get into any training , even fam med, once U finish U will exceed a hired gp pay
It's a stable almost iron rice bowl, as long as U don't go molest anyone or commit crimes U got a job for life. What financial crisis, competitive market doesn't affect U. It's not bad.
U plan properly and invest properly can retire at 55.
