What's terms and hours like?
Would suggest to people heading to GP land, to consider these other things other than just compensation.
1) hours, and how many weekend/night shifts you have to commit.
2) annual package - i.e got aws or bonus?
3) PT load/HR, and type of pts (health screening/medical examination for insurance or employment/GP type) and their profile (pts in joo chat or Bukit timah area, very different from Jurong for e.g)
4) support from management (is there someone whom you can questions if you are unsure about certain things, or you just thrown to deep sea)
5) IT system- ease of use (personal preference I feel sgimed is most efficient, but that's just me la)
- some IT system more laggy, some can't use template for notes or orders. Makes a lot of difference in day-day practice
6) support for your clinic.
- Are there phlebotomist (can be your life saver although most clinics outside of CBD won't have).
- your clinic assistant- do they know what they are doing? Capable CAs are very very helpful. (Some of the best clinics I work in , ca can check and dispense meds (saves lots of time) , they know what is covered under each insurance/tpa contract, like how much chronic meds you can give etc, and how to bill pts- when to use chas, HSG, or their corporate insurance etc). Makes a lot of difference to CA who are clueless. (I know of clinics who employ students as their CAS, can be a nightmare...)

Just my personal thoughts after leaving for private post residency/mmed few years back.

(I.e don't just look at pay. I.e assume 19k/mth better than
18k/mth for e.g)
Of course more applicable if you working for group. If setting own clinic, different story- no exp on this

High rent is a function of potential profits.
Imagine if your salary is 1/3 of renting a place
ask yourself if worth it or not
