Why study so hard to be a pharmacist when you can be a nurse aesthetician?

Pharmacy in SG is not as lucrative as in Australia, because you cannot prescribe and dispense independently. Medications are prescribed and dispensed in a family clinic. It’s not like Australia/UK, where the doctor writes a prescription and you have to bring that to a pharmacy for them to dispense.

Meanwhile.. nurse aesthetician making $5000 basic a month, $8000 with commissions in aesthetic clinic

Don’t worry.. just join an aesthetics chain first. Why think about running when you haven’t even learn how to walk???

Standard path is to join an aesthetics chain willing to take in zero experience hires… work there for 2-3 years and build up your skills. Then apply to be anchor aesthetic doctor at a large chain.. work there for another 2-3 years.

After 5-6 years in aesthetics industry, you should be confident of opening your own clinic

Hair transplant is a niche area of aesthetics. You need to spend a lot of money learning the techniques in Europe. Courses are expensive but client base is limited. Existing market is dominated by a few old-time big players like Freia Medical, SL Aesthetics

Generally, won’t recommend a newbie to dabble into hair transplant. It might be a waste of time and money. Hair transplant training courses cost well into the tens of thousands. Also very difficult to find a clinic willing to sponsor that because it’s very niche. need to build up your clientele first. Do something more general like botox, fillers and lasers..before going into hair transplant.

I’m in OPS now and have gotten 2 offers
1) medium sized GP chain - 20k/month with 3 nights/ week
2) small sized aesthetics chain - 13kmonth base with up to 20k/month incentive based on sales targets, 5 nights/ week

Leaning more towards GP work and doing aesthetics on the side. Or should I join the aesthetics chain first?

Thoughts from anyone who has been down my path before?

Both are lowballs, you can do much better.
Know your worth.
COC all complete?

If you are young and willing to learn, aesthetics is a better option.

The base might be lower but that’s because you have zero experience. Focus on learning and building up your patient base. Perhaps work 2-3 years before applying to a larger aesthetic chain.

US Derm here board-certified by ABD. Out in practice x 2 years. MD and residency from universities recognized by SMC. SG citizen.

Looking to practice medical and surgical derm with minor cosmetics. Comfortable with complex medical derm (including Cyclosporine, IVIg, biologics and JAKs), and most single-stage local flaps (but non-Mohs). Currently seeing 50 patients per day.

May I know what is a reasonable annual remuneration that I can expect to receive including bonus and CPF contributions etc? Any bonus for peer-reviewed publications in high impact journals like JAAD/JEADV/BJD/JAMA? Thanks in advance.

In SG aesthetics generally make more money compared derm. So you can consider opening a medical spa with your credentials. Take home easily 70-80k/month for first year. Up to 120k-150k/month once you are more established in your second and third years.
