You speaking from clinic owner (non doctor) or the GP themselves?

New GP clinc hardly have any business. Competition stiff.

Rental costs high.

For the GP themselves if can hit $5k a month brand new clinic very good already

If clinic owner (non doctor) you can open several. Make about $800 a month per clinic

Op

Suppose it costs 200k to start a clinic, that's an ROI of 4.8%

Not too bad.

Better to just hold bank shares.

I see, I was assuming that given the high population density with HDBs, the income would be more lucrative, assuming that most private GP chains can employ MOs at $8-10k.

But I'd assume you'd get more out of the prescription meds?

Pales in comparison to psychiatric drugs. A month’s prescription of anti-depressants easily cost over $200 in private clinics.

Many people also try to avoid going to IMH for treatment because of the fear of having a public mental health record.

So they would rather pay the higher fees incurred by going to a private psychiatrist

There are many GP clinics to compete with.

Takes a while to establish a patient base if at all.
Need to get a GP with excellent communication skills
Speak many languages. Astute clinician.
Explains well and fast. Establish rapport and trust.
At beginning cannot come across too expensive.
Likely might make losses first year
Big chains also have company contracts. Patients are obliged to go
Ro those clinics cos their company pays for it.
You also compete with Polyclinic.
Tough.
Meds. Profit margin higher with generics. But patients getting
More informed. You give cheap old generics they know and google

GPs dont do much mental health?

What about the MMeders?

Mental health has potential for growth in SG at primary care level

Many psychiatric meds can be prescribed at primary care level

GAD Depression. ADHD. Should be bread and butter.

But it ia true such cases take longer. And is less lucrative if you
Conaider the lower consults charged at GP level.

GP work is all about volume. Why spend over 30mins to handle a difficult case when you can just refer and move on to the next patient?
