I won’t say that it’s crap, but yeah try to aim for other specialities instead.
FM is the best option for people who cannot get into any other speciality and don’t have intention to go into aesthetics/open your own clinic.
An FM consultant has a better earnings relative to lifestyle compared to an Anchor GP in the private sector.

anyway im 34 male and a fresh AC in a rather desirable specialty
pay is ~20k per month (add another 1-2k for calls)
including bonuses i think i'll hit abt 300k for my first-year AC work
its obviously a huge jump from SR days (mine was before the recent salary increment)
in comparison to other fellow ACs in other specs i think im at the higher end
the downside is my spec has a lower ceiling and i will eventually plateau at about 400-450k as senior con (not trying to humble brag as we are all drs here but its the truth)
as for life as an AC - it is TOUGH
lots of work, responsibility and **** from higher ups
i tell myself i will only get more competent and better at what i do as time goes by and life will be easier.... and i try to console myself by telling myself im decently paid (kinda sad i know)
|
I think im in a wrong spec
As a 2nd year ac,
Excluding clinical allowance, and bonus and aws
My base is just 10.7k per mth
Polyclinic total comp definitely earns more than my base pay
See there are rich spec and poor spec
Im definitely went into a low pay non surgical spec
You dont have to specialise

Haha, AC 300k per years, lolz.

Omg how come you all get so high pay
My base as 2nd year ac is 10.7k per mth
So if you just look at base (don’t care abt clinical allowance, bonus, Aws)
It is just 120-130k per annum.
I strongly believe the ops base is higher than me

Another troll. Stop trying to make it look like specializing is not worth it. All you GPs and disgruntled residents.
It is more than that. The pay off is later when go private.
If you don't specialize I will guarantee you will regret it.

Newly promoted ac is 10k base
Uncle, base
We are discounting any bonus, clinical allowance
And call allowance
The difference between reg and ac
Is higher clinical allowance but base pay increase just by 3k

lol some people just don’t want to go through the stress of exams and being on call
Might as well work as locum GP have a good work life balance
For girls, just find a rich husband and your future is already settled
Don’t need to slog so hard

Hi auntie, base is between 11-13k across different clusters. Allowances $1-2k more. All these excluding bonus and AWS.
