How do y'all deal with the unreasonable patient who has many issues in OPS and insisted to discuss all these issues. do y'all ask them come back another day- cause that always results in a complaint

For some reason the patients who doesnt want to pay but wants the world done and has many issues are in OPS, i am not saying these are not in private but OPS has more. Those that wants the world done comes to OPS. i look at some of their address, freehold private property , still come to OPS- so many issues, wants referral here and there. suprised they dont have private coverage.

From experience if your spidey sense says might have complaint
Then just surrender and go into damage control mode.
Listen. Be patient. Heck care the queue liao.
Ask the assisting nurse to inform senior deputy head or head for help.
Depends how senior you are too.
But it is better to just deal with the nasty patient and give in to them
Do what they want. Waive charges. Write letter.
Whatever.
Better than later deal with complaint write long long explanation etc
Your head also will prefer this. Better than "stand your ground"
And patient even more angry!
Makes things worse
The worst are those patient dont say anything during the visit
Then later long long complaint letter shoot out.
I mean you dont say anythig ask you anything else i can help you with
Say nothing
Then shoot letter.

It is impossible for us in single q, u will just end up going home very late or missing out on lunch. Single q cannot block time or ask other drs take over ur patients while u settle this. Sadly, it is always the doctors fault.

Exactly. Always drs fault.
Ypu are like a little crab tied up. Cannot fight back one.
Lan lan. Just say bad day will go home late. Miss lumch lor.
Better than kena complaint letter you still will end up go home late also later.
Also for those possible complaint one better document lots
Write long essay on everything. Docukent defensively.
Remember if not documented means not done or said
If documented means it could have been done and said
Also do not write things that insult the patient or label them badly
It will work againsr you saying you were angry biase couldnt
Stay professional got personal etc
You can document word for word what patient said to you
Do not fight or retaliate verbally or physically!
Just let them take their shots
Also aay less! Nod head. Agree. Be reflective. Apologize. Try to find common ground
Tell patient you are trying to help.
What would you like me to do?
Trouble is some are emotional vampires.
They just purposely want to torture you.
The one say dowan everything you suggest. Then you say what you want?
They say I dunno you are the dr you tell me. But but i just gave you all
The suggestions already. Then they go back and rant on why they dont
Agree with what youe CPG says what you said is good for them etc...
Lan lan. Siao lang.

Seriously medicine hard to get compliments
You need to go extra mile.
And these are things other drs wont do for pt.
One eg is give them your cell phone number. Or email.
I am not saying this is a good or bad thing. Cos got pros and cons
Of course.
But you get what I mean?

I had 2 compliment letters but a lot of complaint letters.
I have never given my number or email to any pt.
But the specialists I see some do give me their hdph number. I think prob because I am also a Dr. Dunno if they give other patients or not.

I will tell you sincerely. That means you are a good dr.
You do the right things. Go by the book.
Follow CPG. Really want to practice EBM.
Those dr always just do what patient want one are the ones
Never get complaints.
But problem is admin pple dun understand
They see complaints is like bad service poor soft skills
So to be a no complaints dr you gotta be flexible and practice grey area medicine at times with those jia lat type patients.
I had old lau jiao GP mentor before told me if patient go out room happy you mever get complaints even if you did wrong things. Satisfied customer.
But you do right thing but patient not happy you still got to answer complaint.
And nobody will be on your side one
They will even say you need to work on comm skills
