depends on department and hospital and how many private pat u seeing.
but generally yes although most new contract are limiting the amt they can earn.
some of the gastro AC I knew 10 years back under old scheme got a suprise when their bonus came. that's when their entire year of procedural work got tallied. one guy paid cash for a 5 series.

Can I check if you work in the public sector, either as a consultant in public hospital or as a family physician in ops (after mmed or fellowship), what will your performance rating be if you just choose do clinical work? I e no interest in research/admin/teaching, just come to work, finish your clinic/ward work (i.e ward rounds for specialist) and go home straight after.
I assume you won't progress far and obviously won't be candidate for leadership position or become a Prof for e.g, but you will still get average performance bonus? (I.e b or c grading)

I can't say for hospital cos I don't work there but for ops , u can do pure clinical and meeting requirement is largely based on numbers ( and ok number of complaints). meet requirement , they throw quite good bonus at you. your annual package in ops will suprise many. when I tell my juniors , they go sure or not ... in some cluster like singhealth, u have solo queue , so when u finish u can actually just go home. but when u actually start to run clinic u dun wish to do pure clinical la. 45 patient a day X 5.5 is 250 patient a week. by Thu and Friday shag liao. u run out of empathy , this is the 235th patient with poor dm control.. best is have a mix of teaching , do 1 or 2 research project on the side.
