If already major depression before do medicind best not to do. Many dr after do medicine gey deptession commit suicide. Drs are obliged to report other drs if they know they have medical condition that impact their ability to function as dr. Depression is one of them. Which is why many drs dont seek help because if they do they are stopped from working. No money no income makes depression even worse then commit suicide. If you are dr and depressed do not tell anyone for your sake!

Guys, just very curious coz I see doctors very often (10-15 visits a year).
I understand that GPs and doctors in some unpopular specialities (like endocrinology or respiratory med) don't make a lot.
But my observation is that, once you are in a decently popular specialty, you can easily make over 1m a year at 40, no?
Let's say ENT/derm/cardiology, even if you don't do procedures very often, the consultation plus med is easily 200 SGD for every 15-20min. It is not uncommon to have doctors seeing 20+ patients a day. This is already 100k SGD, salary for an admin and nurse plus rent aren't that expensive, plus some doctors share with another when they start their practice. If you have do a few procedures every week, the number should easily double I guess?
Even for the less sexy specialty such as psychiatry or neurology, it is not that difficult to have 20 patients a day, just you need to stay in public hospital longer. Instead of leaving once you are a fellow, you better stay till you are senior consultant or at least having some titles like clinical assistant professor etc.
Is my logic wrong? I have seen quite many different specialists and everytime I am not the only patient even it is on a weekday.
