Belgian trained anesthesiologist intensivist
Hello,
Your forum is very interesting.
i would like to asky if Singapore is in shortage of anesthesiologists and what are the chance for a Belgian doctor to find a job.
Thanks for your help
PS: I have already read the criterias for registration and only one university in Belgium is approved by SMC, unfortunately not mine. What do you think?

I think if you have a board certification recognized in the EU, then you should probably be ok.

Anaesthetics consultant with pain management in Singapore
Hi. I am at the end of my training and will CCTV very shortly I the UK. I am interested on anyone who has first hand experience working as consultant in Anaesthesia in Singapore and what is the expected salary and working conditions. I read there is no prospect of registration, is this true? What it like for children. I have two small children under 3.
Thanks

Hi. I am in the same boat. What is your package and salary. What are your working conditions.

Haven't worked there, but during the interview process I met a UK anesthesia consultant who had been working in Sing for 3 years (IIRC) and was fully registered. I don't know if he was the exception, or if full registration is just a matter of time and jumping through hoops (as it would be in any country. No country hands out medical licenses like M&Ms)
As far as I can tell, he was doing ok. But I notice that physicians from US/UK/Australia/etc. who move to Singapore fit a kind of pattern. There's not much financial incentive to make the move and so they might be described as 'dissidents' in a way; people unhappy with the political system or health delivery system in their home countries. Whether Singapore is an improvement is another matter.
