Different people will have different priorities. If your priority is padding your wallet by maximizing your salary, then aesthetics is the easy way to go about it. For people with other priorities, who are you to say that pursuing their speciality is a waste of their time? It's the same vibe as me calling you a waste of your med school slot because you're doing a glorified sales job.

Personally i find it foolish that an MO doing aesthetics can compare his/her professional pathway to a fully qualified specialist.
Make a little more money maybe initially
But for most it is a dead end pathway

Why do some many doctors, including those who already got into residency programs still choose that path then? Just wondering if there is a better way to sieve out those who are interested to specialize vs those who are half hearted

In interviews a sane candidate with insight will always say the right things.
MO pay and working conditions are quite rubbish even now.
Many people find it easier to take the instant doubling or tripling of basic pay when they join GP groups.
and life plans change as well.

Not everyone wants to continue grinding even if it means they’ll make more

Medicine is the worst profession to be in if you are in the top 5% and want to make money fast.
Just go to MIT for engineering and get a cushy tech job if you are a top student. Or even Oxford Law.
Both paths are way faster if you are a top dog.

Problem with medicine is that it is super rigid everyone has to go through HO and MO and residency to make big bucks.
It’s not like tech or finance where if you are a superstar student you can make high 6 figures right out of university.

You are basically a beautician with med degree, the epitome of wastage.
Your other peers are busy saving lives.while you pump useless filler and botox to pad your own wallet.
Everyone look down on you and your job while you still think you are almighty earning alot of money lol.
The amount of respect you get is the same as useless jobs that earn alot of money but contributes minimally to the society, like property agents, insurance agents.
Basically you are a pest to society. Nothing to be proud of.
