Fact is earning money being a doctor is a pain. Is like slow drip water torture. Got to see patient one by one by one.

And in GP work how much can each patient pay? Sure you can open clinic and sell medicine and make profit also but realistically how much profit can you make per patient?

The more you charge the more the patient got questions to ask. So is unrealistic to try to fleece each patient. In the end the hourly amounts dont justify.

So need volume. High volume simpler work less questions profit maybe $20-$30. This is probably the most lucrative route.

However it is VOLUME. And the more patients you see the more chance you get those emotional vampire type ask crazy questions like why why why is this happening to me. Not interested in how to treat or what can be done but WHY this happened to them. And then you explain already they say cannot be lah dont think so lah then ask you WHY again You try to ICE. they say I dont know I am not the doctor you the doctor you tell me. But you already told them. So this type need to usher out fast. But then you uncaring doctor

Also burnout.

In the end, the problem is medicine. It is not what you thought it was. It is more akin to those hawker selling $20 plate of hokkien mee. But the hokkien mee when you fry will talk back to you say they dowan this dowan that and you got to keep the hokkien mee happy also and not kena complaint to the Hokkien Mee complaints council.

If you have the foresight and courage. Leave medicine. Go do something else. Software engineering. Business Admin. Accountancy. CPA. CFA.
I think you mean do FCFPS.

Look for activities and work that involves less dealing on the frontline with people.

Nasty people call from all circles of life. Low SES or rich all same.

The difference though is how many you have to deal with. It is like buying 4D. Buy more tickets then more chance kena nasty people.

So in the end what you want is deal with less people but can make more money with each encounter. High value work. Which is definitely NOT GP work or Primary Care. Even those MMeder and FCFPS what not, their goal is not to see more patients and help more people. They want to siam as much as they can. Do higher value work like admin, politics, management you get what I mean la.

This is coping.

In order to find happiness you have to know what you yourself like to do. If at this stage of medical career you find yourself cannot stand people anymore, next patient you guarded that might be some crazy unreasonable angry person coming in to complain about wait time and have 1001 questions about this dot on arm, that pain in neck, the tummy not good in LHC, cannot sleep.....then you are jaded and burnout already. Go private? You still in the same mess. No change.

Want to change? either specialize (very hard I know) or change career (also very hard I know).

Or lan lan and shut up.

That's true. Many doctos I know do admin/teaching as they cannot stand doing full clinical work everyday. Add in the medicolegal risk as well to clinical work.

Alternative is to work part time or do locum part time (for which hrs more flexible) but of course pay also less.

So no perfect solution/world la essentially

Within medicine

Cos by nature it is one by one by one patient. How to leverage?
Why do CEOs earn big money?

People who make decisions or solve issues that impact on thousands of people or affect azsets3of millions these types can leverage on.

Even airline pilot he make a mistake will kill hundreds.

Even a surgeon make serious bad mistake at most kills one patient only.

You teach medical students also not teach one by one righr? Give lecture to 200? Even tutorial is a group.

This one by one thing is very tiring. And in GP world poly or private the pay for this one to one attention is damn sad.

Insurance agents get better returns. They also get residual income.

Propety agent wah lau sell a 2m property the commission how much man?

So think carefully before choosing to be a dr. At least not as bad as nurse. But is hard tiring work.

you seemed to be extremely motivated by money.
Every post is about the low rate of return where doctors do things one to one.
Anyway, your perspective la.
Very funny, comparing CEOs or the mythical property agent who made millions.
Very easy to talk about them, to become one, you dunno the sweat they go through.
CEO 1 company only got 1. Takes luck, charm and capabilities to get there
Millionare property agent ? Haha, many scrapping by nia. Its a super low barrier of entry job. You really think every agent every month sell a few million dollar properties?

by and large the most bey gan of doctors who become GP is at least 12-15k. Steady job u can do until old, part time or take long break and come back.
Your CPA, CFA, software engineer or whatever you recommend might be scrapping by with a 3-4k salary if they are at the bottom of their food chain. Those making 8K usually middle management and stress as hell. Sell insurance you think so easy? Pilots ? not every makes captains hor. Some stay as senior first officer forever, plus the disruption to sleep cycle, radiation exposure u have to decide if worth it or not.
