There are many Australian qualified lawyers working in the SG offices of the international firms =/ Australian qualification is specifically in demand. Many transactional practices are agnostic as long as you have a common law qualification, and many Australian lawyers come to asia because their home jurisdiction is a legal backwater, and not because an Australian qualification is specifically in demand. I highly doubt an added australian qualification (if you already have Sg or EW qualifications) would help.

True. Most transactions here are most definitely not driven by Australian counterparties. The overall investment activity flowing from Australia to here, which translates to deal flow and thus legal work, is relatively low.
I don't understand why people don't comprehend this basic point. It makes me wonder how many people here are actually practising lawyers.

Just because transactions doesn't flow from Australia doesn't mean that you can't advise on international matters with an Australian qualification lol

Salary woes
1PQE corp assoc in a small firm. Salary in the 4.5-5. Feeling quite disheartened of late not expecting pay to go up. Deals aren’t really coming in and I’m off pretty early. Firm has good work life balance but I feel I’m kentak kaki. FCH from a non prestigious school. Looking to move to like larger mid/Big 4. Im E&W qualified recently
Looking to send out the applications soon to go somewhere larger in 2023. What salary
Would be grateful if anyone has pay scale for MLS/DRD/SLB/WKW, or the Big 4.
Thanks a lot

Yes, your point being? As the posters have said said above, you can advise on transactions with almost any kind of common law qualifications as long as you're good enough and top Anglo American firms want to hire you since most cross-border transactional practices are largely jurisdiction agnostic You can have nigerian, south african, fijian, bermudan, Bahamian, Cayman Island or whatever the f qualification.

Loud condescendingly obnoxious fake accents full of hot air and no substance. Very poor dress sense.
