Should I find a job 1 month after I've tendered? Or just tender.

Been with 2 firms previously.

Firm B for 1 year. Firm A for a month.

Can I leave out my time at Firm A on CV? I was previously asked about the short stint prior to applying to Firm C?

Worried that the time at Firm A would hurt my employment prospects.

Grateful for any seniors thoughts
Consider switching practice areas since it sounds like your current trajectory isn't working for you. If that doesn't appeal to you, apply out of law.

Would giving a potential start date of 3 months time be too much?

Given that my notice is 2 months, and I think I need that 1 month off to recharge.

Don't think Law Firm C can let me abridge notice.

Did everyone see rodyk’s ad today in the Straits Times? Any thoughts?

What does it say? Don't read ST.

Since when do law firms take out ads in mass media?

Future trainee here. What’s the Big 4’s position on WFH moving forward? Thanks!

I'm earning $6.5k gross (before employer CPF) in a smallish firm. 2020 called. 2 other associates of varying seniority but not really sure what their pay is and not comfortable to ask.

Bonus wise, roughly 1+ months so far, including for 2020 which was based on pro-rated calculation.

Wanted to know how I am doing relative to other small and mid size firms?

Default Training contract duration

Hi, I understand the 12 month training contract period kick in from those passing the 2023 Part B exams? Does that mean beginning of 2023 is still 6 months tc for most trainees since they likely only passed the 2022 Part B then?

I’m asking this because I passed the 2019 Part B exams but did not do my tc- decided to start some other business instead. I plan to complete the tc and get called but was wondering if firms (small, medium or big) would still offer me 6 months tc if the 12monthe tc was fully rolled out from the 2023 cohort onwards.

Any thoughts?

No, the new 12-month TC requirement will not apply retroactively to qualified persons who passed pre-2023 Part B exams.

Go to Question 5 of the FAQ document at:
://.mlaw.gov.sg/news/press-releases/law-ministry-accepts-recommendations-to-strengthen-professional

On an unrelated note, the cynic in me thinks that the most recent salary revisions by the Big4 are to cater for the anticipated +6 months' TC, and there won't be any further adjustments in 2023 to reflect that law grads will spend additional +6 months drawing trainee allowance/pay (which is ~1/3 of an NQ pay). They're not doing this out of the generosity of their hearts nor fear of losing talent.

Which is still a net detriment to the 2023 batches. Thoughts?
