But I have met good persons in the industry, and also realised that much of what I was feeling was a result of my negative perspective. I was a miserable person, and mostly blaming my job for said misery.

Once I went to therapy and had my depression under control, I realised a legal career wasn't such a bad deal. It suits my character, and I do like my colleagues.

I just hope that you guys find some release eventually, whether by changing your job or your perspective. I know first hand how horrible it is to be constantly sad and miserable, and hope that you guys will all see better days. Know that there are still good people, good bosses and good work in the industry, and it is just a matter of finding them.
I am really grateful for this post.

Unfortunately I have met so many rotten eggs in my journey in law, and mind you I was from a really big firm. Including my ex was the most horrible lawyer you can find.

Hilarious. Sometimes I hate the toxicity but the humor on this thread keeps it alive

You can go to a polyclinic and get a referral to see a doctor specialising in mental health at NUH or SGH. Based on personal experience, I do not recommend you to go to IMH or the private sector.

Some polyclinics also offer psychology and mental health services.

Is psychologist or psychiatrist better?
Also, why is private not so advisable? Thank you!

They are both different and usually you will need to see them both for an effective treatment.

Psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specialises in mental health. He/she is the one who will diagnose your condition and prescribe you medication.

Psychologist is a mental health professional that provides therapy and/or counselling for your condition. They are unable to prescribe you medication.

I think the only reason private is better is that you can choose and see your own doctor everytime if that is what you want and the waiting time is very short. However, I have went with both ways and I prefer government instituition. I went to see a private psychiatrist and I hated him so much because he is the most unemphatetic and judgemental doctor ever and not to mention I paid a lot just to see him. It could be just my bad experience and luck but I feel that doctors in the private setting only cares about your money because more patients = more money and that is how they make money I guess. However, if you are doctor in the government sector, you will still get your monthly salary no matter if you see a lot of patients or little.
