I'll second the previous poster and tell you you're wrong lol.

Hi, for those who have been retained in a Big 4 firm, how did you find out about your retention? Have you formally signed a contract already?

All these people want to talk about school. I am a Leicester first class and I am better than a NUS second upper or SMU cum laude

No. I haven't seen a contract. I was told orally, not in writing

Are there any practising lawyers in China willing to share their experience here? Currently exploring various jurisdictions to practise law to gain international experience.

Do you mean relatively lenient when compared to applications for TC / junior associate positions at a Big 4?

The other poster isnt wrong either. AGC’s low base is made up with full pay during Part B and TC as well as good bonus. So even if you start at less than 5k, it can match Big 4 in early years overall.

Difficulty of getting into AGC and Big 4 is roughly on par. Sometimes, AGC may be even harder get in. He's saying AGC is much less selective than the White Shoe firms that pay 20k pm for junior associates.
